X-Files Wins Monday 8pm slot and posts 3.2 for 18-49yos
X-Files Fans can rest for six days knowing they did their job to make the return of our favorite show a huge success.
You did it!!!

David Duchovny sums up his – and X-Files – fans to a T. You the fans demanded more and now you are following up and delivering. Social Media has proven its power to put the power into the hands of the people.
These numbers will allow the entire team to get paid for their time and continue to deliver at this level. I think every one of the old team – James Wong, Glen Morgan, Darin Morgan, Vince Gilligan – could deliver a single amazing episode each year. Think of it like the ultimate anthology series that just happens to have a thru line serial drama. Every week is a battle for the best among TV’s best writers and directors. You will get the best guest stars to join Gillian, David and Mitch and more of the classic ensemble players (I love how X-Files reuses guest actors in varied roles over the years).
I for one was up all night. My Struggle felt like a compressed X-Files 3 movie. Founder’s Mutation brought me back to the classic episodes we fell in love with 1993-1998.
James Wong nailed the monster of the week model by having the actual monster be a man. And the William dream sequences have Fans all a glow.
And the Mulder leap seemed more organic than ever.
While down from Sunday’s 13.47 million, Monday’s 9.69 Million is still matching 1993 numbers in a time when there are 100s of options on TV.
And the big number, 3.2 share of the 18-49 demographic, will drive ad sales for Season 11. Wink wink nudge nudge.
I imagine these two execs from FOX will be begging for more episodes after having the best two hours of dramatic program ratings in years. With mediocre numbers for other new shows and American Idol wrapping up, X-Files is once again FOX’s best sure thing.
So Chris Carter and the gang have some work to do, no?
