It won’t just be Mulder and Scully returning for The X-Files reboot.

Actor Dean Haglund, who played one of the lone gunmen on The X Files, is expecting a call-up from creator Chris Carter for the new six-episode series to air on Netflix.

The X-Files reboot is considered the final instalment on the sci-fi TV show which ran from 1993 to 2002 and involved FBI agents Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) and Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson) investigating unsolved cases involving paranormal activity.

The three lone gunman were conspiracy theorists and computer hackers who often helped Mulder and Scully in their investigations.

“We haven’t been approached yet but Chris Carter did say there was a good chance we will be appearing,” Haglund said.

“The gunmen were always a way to shorten a script by 10 pages by giving a bunch of information and opening some doors through computer hacking.

“We haven’t been officially approached but I got a feeling they are bringing everybody back so why not the gunmen.”

If Carter wants to get hold of Haglund he’s going to have the dial the international code for Australia.

Haglund has just moved to Sydney where he is not only an actor, but also a stand-up comedian for hire.

Part of his improve routine includes calling up members of the audience to play Mulder and Scully in an episode of The X-Files.

Even though he only appeared in about 35 episodes, The X-Files has been Haglund’s meal ticket for more than a decade.

He was cast in the short-lived spin-of series, The Lone Gunmen, and he’s also a regular on the pop culture convention circuit.

Later this month he’ll be appearing at the Sydney and Perth Supanova Pop Culture shows.

And over the next two years he hopes to pick up some work on Australian TV.

After chatting with veteran Aussie actor Alan Dale in the USA, he thinks Neighbours might be up his alley.

Dale played patriarch Jim Robinson for more than 800 episodes in Neighbours and he now lives in the USA where his film credits include Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Entourage.

“Alan Dale told me all about Neighbours and I’d love to be on Neighbours,” he said.

“It sounds like its really fun to do.”
