Solve the Manson Murders with David Duchovny
It hasn’t been a full year since he retired Hank Moody’s signature black tee and overactive penis onCalifornication, but David Duchovny is back. This month he’s a hard-boiled detective on the trail of hippie psychopath Charles Manson in NBC’sAquarius. The police procedural is set in ’67, two years before the infamous Cielo Drive murders and at the height of misbegotten California dreamin’. Here Duchovny reminisces about his own ’60s experience (as a drug-free and abstinent 7-year-old).

You were born in 1960, yes?
No need to publicize it, but sure.
What do you remember of the decade?
I grew up on the Lower East Side in Manhattan, so I saw it all happening on St. Mark’s Place. There was a lot of tie-dye, a lot of freaks, a lot of drugs. And, of course, I remember the Manson stuff.
