Digital Spy: Aquarius to return? Manson actor Gethin Anthony says it could be revived “in some form”

Aquarius to return? Manson actor Gethin Anthony says it could be revived “in some form”

But will the ex-Game of Thrones star be involved?

The age of Aquarius might not be over after all – with actor Gethin Anthony hinting that the series could be revived.

The crime thriller was cancelled earlier this month by NBC – but Anthony told Digital Spy that it might “have another life” elsewhere.

“I believe there’s a possibility that it’ll have another life, in another form – certainly the Hodiak (David Duchovny) character,” he said. “So without meaning to tantalise, and there’s certainly nothing confirmed, I sort of think that’s perhaps where it could go.

“But it’d be in a year or so, or maybe later on – so in that way, it’s one of those ‘never say never’ things.”

The ex-Game of Thrones actor played Charles Manson on the series, which was partly based on fact but also pitted the notorious killer against the fictional Hodiak.

“I absolutely do see it as a complete work,” he said of the two seasons aired so far. “It’s something that I’ve had a few months to think about, because we talk about these things a little bit earlier than they’re made public.

“It’s something to be proud of – especially the last couple of episodes. I’m very proud of those and the work that everybody did.”

“There’s an element of risk and trust in any choice you make as an actor, but especially when taking on real-life criminals,” he said. “I understood the concerns. It’d be hard not to understand them. But I trusted the showrunners and I think that they were on the right side of that very fine line.”

The 33-year-old was cast as Manson just four weeks before filming began, but said the key to his playing the part was never to judge his character.

“It’s sort of acting 101 – you can’t judge your character,” he insisted. “Sympathising with them, or empathising with them is something else. But you certainly can’t judge them, because once you’re judging them, it’s a different thing that you’re doing. You’re caricaturing them.

“I think if you learn about anybody’s childhood, it never excuses decisions made as an adult, of course not, but that is a useful thing to do I think if you’re going to play a real person who’s done some terrible things – learn about them, learn about their backstory.”

Gethin Anthony reprises his role as Charles Manson in Aquarius season two, continuing Friday at 10pm on Sky Atlantic. Pre-order the DVD now at Amazon here.

TV LINE: Aquarius Cancelled After Two Seasons

Aquarius Cancelled After Two Seasons
By Michael Ausiello / October 1 2016, 9:45 AM PDT
The age of Aquarius has set at NBC: The Peacock network has cancelled the David Duchovny-fronted summer series after two low-rated seasons, TVLine has learned.

The show’s fate was all but cemented in early August when NBC announced it was relocating the Charles Manson-themed period drama from its Thursday perch to the TV cemetery known as Saturday Night. At the time, entertainment president Jennifer Salke conceded the series faced “tough” odds of seeing a third season.

The X-Files‘ inevitable 11th season easier. Last month, Fox entertainment president David Madden confirmed that “significant talks” were underway with Duchovny and co-star Gillian Anderson. “We would obviously love to do another season [but] schedules are hard,” he conceded. “We’re working hard to get this done.”

We are disappointed that Aquarius has been cancelled. We were really enjoying the series and feel that David and entire cast and team did a phenomenal job. Especially this past season.

Aquarius Season 3: Fans Use #RenewAquarius; Transfers To Online Streaming?

SEP 15, 2016

Aquarius ratings from Season 2 finale is a precursor to the renewal decision of NBC. Fans petition for Season 3 renewal via Twitter.

Aquarius Season 2 concluded just months ago with what viewers described as a major cliffhanger. Tex, Sadie, Emma and Patty went out to finish a mission but got entangled in a very serious crime.

The periodical crime drama television from NBC created by John McNamara (Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman) debuted strong with a whopping 5.673 million viewers. For the first two episodes of the series, the show was able to maintain its high ratings.

The downward shift began in the third episode of Season 1. From 5.673, the ratings decreased to 3.904 million viewers, a 31.18% change in numbers.

Since then, Aquarius has been undergoing a downtrend for the ratings. Season 1 concluded with 1.133 million viewers.

Many were surprised when NBC renewed Aquarius for Season 2, at least according to a website. TV By The Numbers claimed that the Season 2 renewal was part of NBC’s experimentation with shows also airing on online streaming platforms.

But the numbers are still high compared to other scripted series. In fact, Season 2 premiere garnered 2.989 million viewers. Season 2 finale however only drew 1.216 million viewers.

On the other hands, while awaiting for NBC’s verdict for Season 3, fans are already up on their feet. Many of the series’ fans are campaigning for the shows’ Season 3 via Twitter. Some fans spearhead the use of the hashtag #RenewAquarius

There were also rumors on the series transferring to a streaming platform after Season 2. However, this detail is not confirmed yet.

Aquarius starred David Duchovny as Sam Hodiak and Grey Damon as Brian Shafe.

Do you think NBC should renew the series for Season 3?

Stay tuned for more news and updates on Aquarius Season 3.

Aquarius NBC recap & review S2.E5. Everybody’s Got Something to Hide Except Me and My Monkey

Recap by Walt Frasier @waltfrasier

This was a rough week for Cherry Pie. This was a rough week for everyone.

capture-20160706-230916While watching Tex finish off stabbing a body of a woman in the yard, Emma is ordered to take out whoever is left in the guest house. What happened to Tex? The other pretty boy in the guest house has just turned up the music on the radio to block out the screaming coming from outside. He deserves to get slashed for his apathy. Throughout the episode, Emma almost breaks free from the madness with Dennis Wilson, but Charlie still has his clutches on her tight as he demonstrates his musical improvisation talent by singing a precursor to Pheobe’s “Smelly Cats” (NBC Friends).

capture-20160706-235014Charmain might be the one glimmer of hope. While everyone else starts shining and ending up in a hole, Officer Tully goes from making coffee for Cutler to being recruited to go undercover with the “Criminal Conspiracy.”  The task force believes a female cop would be their best shot at infiltrating the SDS (Students for a Democratic Society) -Chamain says she doesn’t want to be a female cop “I just want to be a cop.”  Beware of hippies with dynamite. I fear the penthouse vandalism is just scratching the surface with this assignment.

Shafe is the big hero at the station. After getting hazed with a shave and haircut from Cutler and Hodiak, Detective Shafe goes to work on a murder case. His partner hops from Hodiak to Cutler before determining the crazy girlfriend / second wife did not kill the victim. But all those pats on the back form Cutler could not help Brian’s domestic conflicts and new drug addiction issues.

Hodiak can’t seem to catch a break. Walt is in big trouble, Opal is frantic and IA is back on his heals. After Sam blows off a phone call from Opal, we later learn that she has taken her own life by washing down a bottle of pills with vodka. Unaware of the affair between Cutler and Opal, Shafe receives a phone call and delivers the news of Opals suicide to Culter at the bar. Not sure how Hodiak got through this episode without punching someone. Someone is showing personal growth. The heart crashes hard watching Sam makes the decision not to tell Walt about his Mothers death.

What do you think is the fate of the pretty boy in the guest house?

AUGUST 10 1969  – 12:12am He looks less like a hippie now, but Brian Shafe is more messed up than ever. Clean shaven Shafe finds his charm necklace at the crime scene before shooting up some Heroin.

CUT TO 16 month earlier – (Damages Style), The Brian we all know and love is very concerned for Charmain when Hodiak yells, ‘THEY DID IT’ Martin Luther King has been shot.

CUT TO Black Panthers Headquarters. Is that Mrs. Shafe with Bunchy? HOLDING HANDS?

CUT TO Charlie watching Dennis kiss Emma. “Die, Die, Die” “He’s praying!” Charlie’s family not the swiftest.

Never Say Never to Always - Video - Aquarius - NBC.clipular

More happens in this show before the title slate than most shows in an full hour!aquariousdavidduchovny

“I need your office. I don’t need you.”  Commissioner has little respect for Cutler.

Hodiak and Shafe are on Black Panther Duty. Hodiak has past relations, while Shafe’s wife is more current. Yeah, this will end well.

Hodiak, already upset about news that Waaaaaaaaalt is in solitary and unreachable due to his beating up a Latina inmate and being trans-gendered. Oh wait, that later part was #OITNB, which I watched earlier same evening.

On the way to the Panthers, Hodiak catches a case. A black woman is murdered, with a white suspect and Hodiak is Mr. Sensitivity, so of course he is the right call.

Meanwhile Charmain continues to work Roy, via shoulder massage. Charmain reveals she is an army brat. Roy recalls a different story of her daddy. Charmain reconciles stories. Roy bites.  “I like my men dumb.” Don’t we all.

Brian rolls up on Panther headquarters. Bunchy is not happy to find out Kristen’s white husband is also a cop. Race riot almost becomes a domestic dispute situation.

Charmain meets the big boss while revealing who has the brains in that couple. Roy does prove to be a great burger gofer, “All the way.”

Shafe fails to get the Panthers on board. Shafe leaves alone. Wait, who is with the daughter now?

Charmain gets up close and personally violated by the kingpin before Roy returns with lunch.

Emma and Dennis look scared while Charlie is celebrating the rioting due to the MLK assassination. Sadie just wants to get high with Tex. Everyone leaves as Charlie makes it so hard to hear the TV.

Hodiak learns a new word while LA starts to boil. “I knew right away” this guy is so guilty as we learn his dead cousin (Ms. Burnside – NOT MAME, apparently) is not really his cousin.

non-consanguineous – (Adjective) Non (not) Consanguinity (“con- (with/together) sanguine (blood) -ity (noun marker)”) refers to the property of being from the same lineage as another person. In that respect, consanguinity is the quality of being descended from the same ancestor as another person.

The commissioner calls Hodiak at home to put the pressure on to solve the murder and calm the Panthers.

“I like your outfit” regarding Hodiak’s topless nature, Opal shares the opinion of many female fans, and a few male ones too, before breaking down. “No one is holding him.” She knows Walt is in the army now, right?

The commissioner spends a lot of time on the phone getting real cops to do his dirty work. This time with Shafe. “Tell your wife she can save lives.” Kristen is not having it and kicks Shafe out.. “I’m not your N-, I’m your wife. The mother of your child”,  OK Brian, you can take the couch.

SNYDER! Racial are terms tough, even as a period piece. N words, SHF word (Jewish/Yiddish version of N Word), Hodiak endures his schmeckle thinking…

The schmeckle is a form of currency in some dimensions. It is encountered for the first time in the Thirsty Step in the episode Meeseeks and Destroy. Rick and Morty’s waitress says to other patrons that her boob job cost 25 schmeckles

OOPS, wrong SCHMECKLE –  Yiddish term for penis (URBAN DICTIONARY)

“NAKED WE ARRIVE, NAKED WE SURVIVE” – Charlie gets the team ready to flee for the desert. “CLEANSE THE WORLD SO THE FAMILY CAN REMAKE THE WORLD” Dennis is clearly beginning to feel uncomfortable with Emma’s devotion to Charlie.

Hodiak learns Ms. Burnside was 3 months pregnant before he finds baby Snyder. Apparently the projects are a tough place to hide, especially for a young white schmeckle. Hodiak fails to get the truth, but young Burnside cracks under his mother’s torture.

Brian fails but Kristen finally gets Bunchy to help calm the city, and escorting the murderer out of the building. Bunchy has a condition. Bunchy gets the city’s first MLK day-off.

Forty-five years ago last week, two young members of the Black Panther Party, Alprentice “Bunchy” Carter and John Huggins, were slain on the campus of UCLA. Students at the time, Carter and Huggins were shot during a meeting about the formation of a black studies department. The killings at Campbell Hall appeared to be a flashpoint in a supposed power struggle between the Panthers and the Maulana “Ron” Karenga-led group, Us. The FBI, under J. Edgar Hoover, however, was keen to exploit and heighten tensions between the groups before the incident.

Charlie hates that the city does not explode. Emma talks him off the cliff before taking anger out on Tex. His dreams of a musical career are still enough to take Charlie’s mind off the crazy.

Charmain brings Brian to meet the kingpin.

Walt gets charged with mutiny for leading a prison riot.

Kingpin gets Brian to taste the product. Rabbit hole presented. I don’t think that’s a bike he is riding down.

Boy, this show bounces around.

Hopped-up Brian and Charmain discuss Roy’s future. Cutler interrupts with more ignorance. Charmain does not like Hodiak’s plan to let Roy fall and become a casualty so he can save Walt.

“You own me commissioner. I will collect.” While Richard Tendaji is not a real character, he appears to represent Maulana “Ron” Karenga. (See above aside)

The foreshadowing is heightened as we see Charlie and Dennis protest marching.

Wells does not believe Charmain is really a cop. “You bitch. I’m going to kill you.” Roy doesn’t appreciate all that Charmain has done to save his life.

AUGUST 10 1969 12:17am – Covered in blood, Shafe calls Hodiak.

  Examiner News Service

LOS ANGELES–A Hollywood actress, an internationally known male hair stylist and an heiress to a San Francisco coffee fortune were found slain along with two other men yesterday in what one policeman described as a “ritualistic” killing.
The scene was a $200,000, tomato-red home in fashionable Bel Air, rented by the actress’ husband, director Roman Polanski, whose suspenseful and macabre films include “Rosemary’s Baby.”
A 19 year-old, bare-chested caretaker was arrested in a guest cottage at the mansion and charged with five counts of murder.
Police identified four of the five victims as:

    •     Sharon Tate, 27, a pregnant honey-blonde actress who played sexy parts in movies, including “Valley of the Dolls,” and slapstick comedy on television’s “Beverly Hillbillies.” Hollywood gossip had it that Miss Tate and Polanski had split up. He is in London, negotiating to film a movie.
    •     Jay Sebring, 35, Miss Tate’s former boyfriend and operator of hair stylist salons in Hollywood, San Francisco, New York and London.
    •     Abigail Folger, 26, a business associate of Sebring and a member of the Folger Coffee Co. family of San Francisco. Miss Folger was the daughter of Peter Folger of Woodside, chairman of Folger Coffee, and Mrs. Ines Meija Folger of San Francisco.
    •     A man identified as Voityck Frykowski, 37, who police said was a friend of Polanski. A housemaid said Frykowski was a writer and photographer.

The fifth victim was an unidentified man.

No Resistance
The arrested youth was named by police as William Garretson. Officers said he apparently had just awakened when they seized him and was wearing no shirt. He offered no resistance.
Investigators said the victims were slain 12 hours before their bodies were discovered by a maid, who ran screaming to neighbors.
The neighbors called police.
Officers said the killings appeared methodic and ritualistic because one victim had a hood over his head and two were tied together by a white nylon rope
Miss Tate was discovered with one end of the rope around her neck. She was dressed in a bikini nightgown – bra and panties – her favorite costume around the house.
The rope was looped around Sebring’s neck and pulled across a ceiling beam in the living room.
“It seemed kind of ritualistic,” said an investigating officer.
“It didn’t appear as if the two connected to the rope had been hanged because there was blood on them,” said Lt. James Shannon.
Investigators said all five victims appeared to have been shot.

“Ample Blood”
The word “pig” was scrawled on the front door in what appeared to be blood. Officers said the writer may have used his hand or a rag. “There was ample blood around,” a policeman said.
Sgt. Stanley Klorman said there were signs of a struggle in a large room and in a guest room.
“It looked like a battlefield up there,” said Sgt. Lorman.
Miss Tate and Sebring were found in the living room, two others – including Miss Folger – were discovered on the lawn, and the fifth victim was in a car. It appeared that he was about to drive away when he was slain.
Telephones and electricity were cut off, police said.
“In all my years, I have never seen anything like this before,” said officer Lorman. All of the beds, including those in the guest house, appeared to have been used. But there was no indication of robbery, unless they were very selective.”
In an interview three years ago, Miss Tate said of Sebring:
“Before Roman, I guess I was in love with Jay. But the truth is I was no good for Jay. I’m not organized. I’m too flighty. Jay needs a wife. And at 23, I’m not ready for wifehood. I still have to live, and Roman is trying to show me how.”
Police said the maid, Winifred Chapman, discovered the killings when she came to work at 9 a.m. “She ran screaming to a neighbor, who called police,” and officer said.
The first call arrived minutes later at the downtown Los Angeles Police Department. The caller told Officer Robert Fishel:
“You better get a police car over here right away. There’s a man lying on the front lawn and blood all over the place. It looks like a bad one.”
Investigators arrived to find the five bodies, the two women dressed in lingerie nightgowns and the three men “in hippie-type clothes,” said an officer.

Beautiful Blonde
An officer of the Los Angeles Animal Control Bureau went into the home and left soon with a Yorkshire terrier, two poodles, a Dalmatian, a Wiemaraner and a tiny kitten.
The death scene was off a canyon in a hilly region between Beverly Hills and the San Fernando Valley northwest of downtown Los Angeles–an area where many Hollywood actors and entertainers live.
Miss Tate, a beautiful blonde who had parts in “The Americanization of Emily” and “The Sandpipers,” also starred in the television comedy “Petticoat Junction.”
She liked to refer to herself as “sexy little me.”
At the age of six months, she was chosen “Miss Tiny Tot” of Dallas, Tex. At age 16, she was Miss Richland, Wash. She got it parts in the movies by the time she was 18.
Her movie and television roles included comedy, sexy parts–and even the morbid. One of her first roles was in “The Dance of the Vampires”–and had her bathing nude in a bathtub.

S.F. Heiress
She also did television commercials for automobiles and cigars.
Sebring, the noted hair stylist whose salons drew the famous, opened a new operation in San Francisco last May. Husband-wife acting team Paul Newman and Joan Woodward were among those attending his champagne celebration in the financial district. Miss Folger was one of Sebring’s business associates.
Miss Folger, accustomed to high-society living, attended Santa Catalina School for Women near Carmel, and was graduated from Radcliffe.
Her father said yesterday his daughter had become active in social welfare causes around Los Angeles about six months ago and “more or less commuted” between here and the family home near San Francisco.
“She always has led a clean life,” he said.
The other victim identified by police, Voyteck Frykowski, was a Polish friend of film director Polanski officers reported. He was associated with Polanski in the director’s first film, “Knife in the Water,” police said.

AQUARIUS Season 2 Episode 1 Recap: It’s All Emma’s Fault

AQUARIUS Season 2 Episode 1 Recap. There are crazies. There are deranged jerks. There are maniacal killers, manipulators, rapists, politicians etc etc etc. There are total morons that blindly follow and eat up everything those arrogant and crazy folks dish out and do.

Then there is Emma. Seriously, Emma Karn (Not actress Emma Dumont who brilliantly portrays the young confused lady) represents what’s really wrong with this world. She watches in horror but then turns around and swallows the kool aide, and then – worse – gets others to drink from the poisoned punch bowl. THEN gets pregnant by Satan himself…

AQUARIUS Season 2 Episode 1 Recap

by Walt Frasier follow on twitter @waltfrasier

Emma follows Satan and becomes a promotional arm for the cause for lack of other ideas for a future. Charlie (Gethin Anthonyis a sick f-ck, but still somehow sounds more rational than Mom and Dad. As a result, pregnant Emma is ring side for Helter Skelter as we see a glimpse of what is to become of the Manson family.

While enjoying a hot shower, Hodiak recaps the past events leading to his IA investigation. During his daily tit for tat with Cutler, he discovers an envelope. Cutler assumes the sexy gal pic is a fan outreach. “Me Likey”. Shafe interupts with updates about Charmain.

SHAFE: “What do we do?” HODIAK “It’s called police work.”

INTERESTING SIDE NOTE:  One of Cleopatra’s attendants in Shakespeare’s Antony and Cleopatra was named Charmian.   The English version of Charmaine means Song.

I fell like there are many moments in this series where we see the young with all the answers until the old farts show us the way. Brian Shafe is freaking out over Charmain’s  disappearance. Hodiak has the wisdom to be methodical.

So at some point during the gun wrestling of Season 12, Ken has passed out and Hal has disappeared. There were two shots. Ken seems to be fine. OH THERE HE IS. Hal is barely pulling himself away to the cliff. This whole scene would be a buzz kill to Hank Moody future visits to romantic cliff views if he knew about all this horror. lol As Ken gets keen to Hal’s path, Hal tumbles down in front of an on coming car.

Never Say Never to Always - Video - Aquarius - NBC.clipular

We find Charmain trying to justify Sugar Clam’s existence to Roy. Ted’s funeral story not working.

Emma finds Charlie freaking out as an old college roommate… I mean prison cellmate drops by for a visit. Charlie tells Emma to drop the knife and get his old “friend” some food. If Emma just once listened to the screaming inner voice, NONE of this would ever happen.

Charmain gladly takes the mood enhancing drug. Like a great writer, she is inspired to spin a tale about Brian. “I let him ball me, keeps him house broken…” HILARIOUS!!!

Maybe Emma’s silence is not all bad. Sadie makes the mistake of speaking up to new friend. Charlie is paralyzed by fear. Brian saves the day by getting “serious” when all the friends wants to do is “horse around”.

We hear flashes of Vietnam news when Sam gets call of a biker bar raid. Sam goes to get some answers.

HODIAK “I’m in no mood for a short man, not tonight.”

We all get so horrified over a little torture. But I just love seeing Hodiak threaten violence against Thor – and beat via Sargent.  Buttering up with compliments did not work.

“I like you, Sam, but one thing you are not is a nice guy. Not even a little.”

But he does make a perfect omelet, so he is a hit with ladies at breakfast time at least.

Two great moments – Ken calling Grace to say his regrets their raising of Emma AND chosing not to blow brains finding out about Hal’s ominous future – were bridged by a very strange transition that still irks me after the third viewing. So Grace came home in between?  Maybe picking up the phone at two different men’s homes is why the female Aquarius fans don’t like Grace. Or just the rhythm of two consecutive mini scenes starting with a Grace answering a phone ring. Typical TV – interesting acting/writing moments awkwardly strung together.

Hodiak finds Roy. And then Charmain finds him. A quick head shakes denies sex with Roy. “Yeah, she is just what you need.” UH-Oh.

“Otter” for a new Nickname?  Hodiak’s response would say no, “Tough to pronounce without teeth but give it a whirl.” Great line, I mean, try it…

Discussing Charmain’s future, Shafe and Hodiak, are interrupted by fellow cop comedians and another envelope. This time with the pin up girl dead. “My gags are funny” Cutler finally gets serious.

Assuring Emma, Charlie justifies bowing down to Ralph because of how things were on the inside (Prison). Ralph is trying to manipulate Charlie to take him in under his wing.

Sam and Brian finally get Charmain aside at the diner to discuss the situation. Sam laughs when Charmain threw Brian’s manhood under the bus.

“That’s you cover?” Brian is a little upset.

Hodiak is moving on ‘I think if you are lucky she will let you stay” before getting a lead on his new case previously dropped on the desk.

He interviews Tina’s mom. Asking if Tina is left handed, mom says no. Saying it looks like a man wrote the note.

Ken is at the hospital checking in on Hal, when Grace leaves in disgust, thinking Hal is once again lying about cheating.

Hodiak is following up a lead on Tina’s life when IA jumps in. Hodiak performs some great pantomime as Ron lists his past transgressions. Sam seems like a :”long, loud fall” type.

SIDEBAR: Watching ONDEMAND – Kindergarten Cop 2? WITH DOLPH? WTF??? I think this will give me a tumor.

Roy has to much invested into Guapo to save Charlie from Ralph. Brian looks awkwardly at Roy and Charmain. Rot sets Brian straight. Everyone wants to meet and trust each other. Charlie meanwhile plays with rocks. “I SHAPE THE ROCK” (And these are the days of our lives…)

Ken gets the great news that Hal is going to live.

Hodiak gets to meet the cop ratting on him to IA.

And after all of that Grace says “You will not believe the day I had.”

Charmain warns Brian.

Sadie got Thor to get them some weapons.

Brian and Hodiak find Guapo. “Shooter is US Military”

Ralph is looking for Charlie. CUT TO Charlie 1969 “HELTER SKELTER”

OMG That 42 minutes packed a lot and a punch. The first two times I watched all three eps as one movie. I was not sure where one part stopped and the next one finished.  Watching JUST episode one this morning to get through this recap was exhausting.

I will try to get the other two recaps done before Thursday. Only on set one day this week. Live tweet with us via @duchovniacs

How David Duchovny keeps bagging himself hit multi-year series

JUNE 16, 201612:52PM
Anna CaldwellNews Corp Australia Network

DAVID Duchovny signs up to TV shows not expecting them to get past the first season.

It’s not pessimism, he says — it’s reality.

But reality has never proved a barrier for the 55-year-old one time sci-fi star turned all around renaissance man.

The actor, known best for his multi-year stints on shows like The X-Files and Californication, is about to beat his first-season-flop fear again when his 1960s crime drama Aquarius makes a return for year two this month.

“If you look at my numbers, they just fly in the face of reality,” he says.
“I’ve done four shows and they’ve all gone multiple years and that just doesn’t ever happen.

“My tastes are not mainstream. Therefore I think if I’m attracted to something it will probably die a horrible lonely death.”

For season two of Aquarius, Duchovny returns as LAPD detective Sam Hodiak in the Charles Manson era.

“He’s trying to save the world that’s already been destroyed and I find that to be heroic in a doomed way which is the best kind of heroism in drama anyway,” Duchovny says.

It’s TV success stories like these, Duchovny says, that have allowed him to branch into other creative pursuits.

The dual Ivy league degree holder is getting rave reviews for his March-released novel Bucky f—— Dent, as is his moves to dabble in music with his 2015 debut album Hell or Highwater.

“Part of it is getting to a point in my life where I had enough success in one area,” he says when asked if he was transitioning to all around renaissance guy.

“I’d love to say I have the balls to try all these new things without a net but in many ways my net was my success as an actor. So I can’t claim the bravery that I want to.”

He says it’s “liberating to go out and be a beginner again”.

“I don’t want to say it keeps you young but it makes you feel this way that’s wide-eyed and curious and I think that informs everything once you start living life that way.”3780cabc24a2e6b51cab78c2a25ae4a0
